HCML / HCMR modules control the headlights. Since the headlights in cars are different, the modules differ, including their configuration. VTool has been able to read the configuration of HCML / HCMR modules and display it in an adapted form for quite some time now.
The headlight configuration is also present on the information sticker on the headlamp. Example from the left headlamp of my car:
If the headlight or HCML / HCMR modules have not been replaced, then the configuration and production date must match.
But what if you want to install active bending headlights instead of simple ones?
Used headlamps are mostly sold without modules, which means that the modules are purchased separately. And it is not known whether the HCM module is from the right headlight or from the left. And also 99.9%, that the module contains the wrong configuration (not corresponding to the headlight on which it will be installed).
Therefore, it is necessary to assign the correct side to the module and transfer the configuration indicated on the headlight sticker to it.
For this purpose, the programming functionality of HCML/HCMR modules was added.
In this window, you need to select which module - left or right - you want to program. Or maybe even make the right module left or vice versa.
Then you need to enter the configuration line from the sticker of the headlight on which the HCM module is installed, specify the production date (optional) and click "calculate".
Make sure that VTool has a bootloader for your module on its server. If not, you need to select the VBF file with the "open SBL" button.
After that, start the programming process and as a result, VTool should report that everything was completed successfully
When installing the headlights and modules, it is recommended to program them by connecting one at a time, because, for example, having connected both HCM modules, they both may turn out to be HCML or both HCMR and will not be able to work correctly. Therefore - for example, the left headlight with the module is connected, VTool will determine the module as HCML or HCMR and if it turns out to be HCMR (on the left headlight), you will need to enter the configuration from the left headlight into it and the module will become HCML after reprogramming. Then disconnect the left headlight and program the right headlight in the same way.
PS: HCM modules programming functionality will be available to holders of a VTool license from version 1.0.1.355, which will be posted on the site a little later.
